YouTube on Thursday said that it had disabled the comments on videos which featured minors. This move comes a week after a magazine reported that this video broadcasting platform displayed some disturbing ads next to videos with minors.
“Over the past week, we disabled comments from tens of millions of videos that could be subject to predatory behaviour,” YouTube said in a blog post.
The report published by a local magazine said that some commercials ran alongside offensive videos and comments prompted companies to pause advertising.
“While we have been removing millions of comments for violating YouTube’s policies, we had been working on an even more effective classifier, that will identify and remove predatory comments,” YouTube said.
The company has said that it has “accelerated” the rollout of an AI-based comment classification system, which YouTube confirms is more effective in scope, and will detect and remove the more individual comments two times faster.
