China’s Shenzhen-based gaming smartphone manufacturer that’s backed by Xaomi, Black Shark, is finally planning set up operations in India. The company will be headquartered in Bengaluru and will be headed by David Li, Vice President of Black Shark Global will be managing the overall operations even in India. Chirag Nagendra, Ex-OnePlus communications head, will also be a part of this team and will be responsible for brand building and communications strategy as Black Shark India’s Marketing Head.
The company appears to be in the process of setting up its India operations and said that it will announce an “official” launch date sometime later. Other than smartphones, the company is also expected to bring its peripherals like the Gamepad 2.0 controller, along with its gaming smartphones just like Moto Mods.
The original Xiaomi Black Shark was launched exclusively in China way back in April 2018 and went on sale in the UK and Europe in November. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC which is paired to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It sports a 5.99-inch screen with a liquid cooling system that’s similar to the one on Poco and a huge 4000mAh battery.
The company had also launched Xiaomi Black Shark Helo in October, with a slightly larger 6.01-inch display paired with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of intrnal storage.
Recently, Xiaomi Product Director Wang Teng Thomas had confirmed on Weibo about the existence of the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone, which will sport an Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB of RAM.
