But the question is whether we are using good vegetables or poisoned one? We can definitely say the majority of them are poisoned one. Our state is well known as “a consumer State”. We are consumers, not producers. The cultivation of vegetables in our state is much less than our demand. So we are importing the vegetables from other states. The farmers of other states are using chemical fertilizers for more production. They could not use bio-fertilizers and organic cultivation, as it is much costlier. So they are forced to use chemicals, otherwise, they could not survive and earn a reasonable profit. The most threatening factor is they are also using highly poisoned pesticides to keep the products without damage and insecticides for a long time.
Our Govt has introduced a number of programs to encourage farmers to do organic farming by ensuring support price, marketing, etc. So it is a great time to produce vegetables on our own by doing organic farming. Our aim should become a producer state instead of consumer state and protect our next generation from disaster.
