The picture of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Jawan holding India’s tricolour on Republic Day is a tableau of courage and patriotism.Thirteen other soldiers stood behind him in a perfectly straight line. They had arms by their side.We celebrate Republic Day on 26 January, honouring the date on which the constitution of India came into effect . On 26 January 1950 ,a democratic government system came into effect thereby making India and independent Republic .
At a height of 18000 feet and a temperature of minus 30 degree, the ITBP personnel carried the tricolor through the knee deep snow at the India China border in Uttarakhand. This heart touching photograph of Patriotism was clicked in Ladakh as India celebrates it’s 70th Republic Day.The ITBP is a specialised mountain force. Majority of its officers are trained mountaineers and skiers . These officers guard the border from Ladakh Karakoram Pass to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh. On this auspicious day let’s salute our jawans for keeping our national flag flying high.
