once upon a time in a certain old and ancient temple when the priest had gone back to his home after finishing his daily duties the stone idol of the deity and the stepping stone started conversing with each other.
The stepping stone complained: “How lucky you are. We both were identical lumps of rock for millions of years. The sculptor then carved an idol out of you and everyone is worshiping you. But look at me I am a stepping stone and everyone stands on me and stamps me. what kind of life is this?”.
the stone idol didn’t react it just smiled. But the stepping stone just wouldn’t stop his constant whining.
Antagonised, one day the idol finally spoke to the gloomy stepping stone. “Do you remember that when the sculptor set out to carve out an idol, it was you whom he choose first but you were so impatient and intolerant. At the first strike of the chisel, you broke into two. But when he tried me, I tolerated and bore all the hammer and chisel blows. and so now I am an idol whom people worship thinking or imagining gleefully about how beautiful their God looks like and with a belief that I’ll listen and free them from all their woes and grant them the wishes they pray for, but you are just a stepping stone, but thanks to you for people find it easy to climb and come to the temple without much difficulty.”
