Reliance Jio may soon launch its JioGigaFiber for public use. The launch had been postponed several times last year. Now the company seems to have ended its testing phase and is optimizing its market strategy for the fibre-to-the-home broadband service. It’s no surprise that Jio has acquired DEN Networks and Hathway Cable, which will play the main role in Reliance Jio achieving last mile connectivity for the JioGigaFiber service.
Reliance Jio had first announced JioGigaFiber service in August 2018 and has been actively testing its FTTH broadband service until very recently with select users from major cities from the past few months.
Reliance Jio, which had debuted its first commercial operation as a wireless network operator way back in September 2016 had recently claimed that it had more than 300 million subscribers in India. In its Q4 profit report, Reliance Jio had stated that it was one the first telecom operator to surpass 300 million users in a shockingly short amount of time. Jio’s operating revenue in FY19 was reported to be a whopping Rs 38,838 crore while the company’s EBITDA margin was said to b around 38.9 per cent.
