The online trading sites which enable each individual to sell or buy used products online is nowadays more a front for scams and theft. It actually encourages them to continue scamming the innocent. In recent events, one of my friends was scammed in the same way. A person by the name Vignesh (Phone Number: 8124151952) was selling a bunch of iPhones for a very reasonable price. By which he was tempted and contacted him. He spoke very politely and said that these were tax-free harboured products and hence costed less. And he was convinced and the scammer asked that he has to pay 10% of the money and the rest he could apply as EMI.
He said that the phone will be delivered soon. The Scammer also provided legitimate Account number IFS code and also a Whatsapp number. After my friend transferred him the money of 6000 Rupees the scammer even though was online did not respond properly. And he started to say that the product was already delivered and I’m not responsible for the refund. He filed a complaint on OLX and all that they did was block the scammer’s account. He called the guy and the phone was switched off and then he had blocked him on Whatsapp. He was left helpless as the person could not go to the police as they would not care since it is a small amount of money.
This day I would like to speak on behalf of the innocent victims like these that there is no harm in boycotting OLX or any other platforms as such. Or at least should take some serious action against scammers. Else should at least run a thorough verification process before someone signs up. Here the victims are in ruins where scammers go free without any punishment. Situations like these depict the situation in countries like India where bad people live a life of ease, whereas simple people always struggle and are always the victims.
