And finally, the wait is over. The most expected movie ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ has hit the theatres and a huge crowd is rushing towards to see the movie.
After watching the movie, all I could think of is about Mohanlal’s performance as ’Itthikkara Pakki’. It’s electrifying, grand and refreshing. Mohanlal was in an entirely different avatar in this movie. Perhaps, this kind of makeover is a rare thing to witness. ’Itthikkara Pakki’ stands out from all aspects of the entire film. Even after 20 minutes of Mohanlal magic, the audience could not stop thinking about ’Pakki’ and hoped to see his return on screen.
Nivin Pauly’s portrayal of ’Kayam Kulam Kochunni’ is satisfactory. Personally, I didn’t expect much from the actor since a character like ’Kochunni’ needs much more physical talent. And maybe due to this low expectation, I found his performance satisfactory. But I am quite sure that movie buffs will definitely compare Nivin Pauly’s performance with Mohanlal and this might favour to Nivin Pauly’s side. It’s almost like Christian Bale and Heath Ledger in the ’The Dark Knight’. It’s not that Christian Bale didn’t perform, but still, Heath Ledger’s performance overshadowed him. This is exactly what happened in the case of Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal in ’Kayam Kulam Kochunni’.
Almost all other supporting casts performed well in the movie. Sunny Wayne had a considerably good role to perform in the movie and he did his job really well. Shine Tom Chacko, with his little screen appearance, made sure that his presence had an impact among the audience. Babu Antony, as a martial arts guru, was also good. But the impact of Sudev Nair, as Swati Thirunal, even though a very short appearance, delivered an outstanding performance and I’m quite sure that it worked with the audience really well.
