The mass shooting in the two mosques of Christchurch in New Zealand has left the world devastated. A loss which perhaps nobody can comprehend. There have been numerous discussions on social media, people have been putting up their stories and showing grief.
But now, finally, there is a powerful voice which ensures that humanity will be respected. The one who took the responsibility of changing the laws and reforming all that can be changed to implement better laws and regulations is the prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.
She called the day of the attack as “one of New Zealand’s darkest days”.
She informed that the shooters had extremist views and hence he charged upon one particular community. Muslims.
The attack was extreme as it killed 50 people in the two mosques and dozens are reported to be injured.
Jacinda Ardern says “There is no place for terrorism in New Zealand and in fact anywhere in the world”.
This is probably happening for the first time that a country’s Prime minister is taking into account the role social media plays. Social media actually affect the mentality of the people. She said the social media platforms should bear the responsibility of the content they allow to be posted on their platform.
“We cannot simply sit back and accept that these platforms just exist and that what is said on them is not the responsibility of the platform where they are published. They are the publisher, not just the postman. It cannot be a case of all profit, no responsibility.” Ardern strongly said.
She rightly said that there must be some guidelines for social media also. Although it is not clear how should it be regulated but she definitely pointed out the need for doing so.
Evidence points out that the shooter is a follower of Trump and he is inspired by Trump ideologies. It was Donald Trump who has banned the Muslims for coming into the United States of America. Although Donald Trump is fully denying this but needless to say everyone knows what is the truth.
Ardern also said that she will not public the name of the shooter and give it the negative fame he wants. This is an important step which should be taken in such cases but is never taken. This time the PM of New Zealand is taking such strong steps and she is actually an inspiring personality. To run a country is not an easy job. Decision making is a crucial part of being into power and if you can make good decisions for your country, you are respected in the world. This is what is happening with the PM of New Zealand. She’s been getting the support not only from New Zealand but all around the world.
Ardern concluded her speech by saying that the country is with the Muslims. In fact, they all are one. She humbly says Salaam and concluded. By doing that she had shown a gesture of love and compassion which is so required in the world.
