What are the things you require?
To begin with this process, you will need your Aadhaar card’s 12-digit number along with your PAN card’s 10-digit alphanumeric number. You also need your mobile number that’s linked with your Aadhaar card as an OTP will be sent on that number for authenticating if it is you.
Aadhaar PAN linking using Income Tax Department website
You first have to register yourself on the Income Tax e-filing website (incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) if you have not yet registered. In case you already have an account, sign in using your credentials along with your date of birth, a pop-up window will appear on your screen and will help you link your Aadhaar with PAN.
In case you don’t see the window, you can go to Profile Setting and click on Link Aadhaar. After verifying your details on the screen, fill in your Aadhaar number, and then click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ button. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for authentication, and in case your details match, the Aadhaar and PAN linking will be successfully completed.
Linking Aadhaar card with PAN via SMS
you can also link your Aadhaar with PAN by sending SMS to either 567678 or 56161. However, this method will work only if both your Aadhaar and PAN card are registered under the same name.
To link using SMS, open your SMS app and type ‘UIDPAN, after a space type your 12-digit Aadhaar number, and after another space type your 10-digit PAN number and send it to either 567678 or 56161. For example, UIDPAN 123456789123 ABCD1234AB, where 123456789123 is your Aadhaar number while ABCD1234AB is your PAN number.
See that you send this SMS via your Aadhaar registered/linked mobile number, which is also linked with PAN card. If your linking is successful, you will be notified about the same via another SMS.
