Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man franchise may have ended but the actor won’t feel the heat financially at least for the next few years or so, thanks to the contract which he negotiated sometime back.
As everyone knows, the 54-year-old actor had been the main face of Marvel Studios’ money-minting Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. Legends say that Robert Downey Jr had managed to make a “unique financial arrangement” deal with the Marvel studio chief Kevin Feige lead him to receive huge paycheques for the next few films.
Downey Jr is said to have earned a whopping USD 75 million in salary from last year’s blockbuster movie “Infinity War”, which had reportedly earned more $2 billion globally in the box office.
For his part in the 2017 film “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, Robert Downey Jr’s had received about USD 5 million per day for just three days of shooting!
All these estimates will be truncated by Downey Jr’s paycheque for “Endgame”, which has till now raked in more than $1.2 billion and is still going strong worldwide.
Other “Avengers” stars like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johannson have settled their respective salaries for the future films they are gonna act in.
Evans, who plays as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had bagged a five-picture deal, excluding cameos. However, the actor is said to have renegotiated the deal in the range of USD 15 million to USD 20 million, before appearing in “Endgame”.
Hemsworth had originally signed up for five films way back in 2010, however, renegotiated his old contract to play Thor in “Infinity War” and “Endgame” movies because of which Hemsworth was able to earn somewhere between USD 15 million and USD 20 million per movie.
Johansson’s salary for “Endgame” is still not known., however, the actor is said to have earned close to $20 million for both acting in and producing a new independent “Black Widow” movie, which is slated for release in 2020.
