A sequel of Sunny Deol’s 2001 blockbuster “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” is in the cards. The story will be continuing from where the original film ended. And will be plotted against the backdrop of India-Pakistan.
The previous film which was directed by Anil Sharma had raked in more than 256 crores. Also, this film still ranks among the top three Indian films to have witnessed one of the highest footfalls. This film reportedly had almost 17 crore footfalls.
The production team has revealed that they had been working on the ‘Gadar’ sequel from the past 15 years. ‘Gadar’, if you remember was the story of Tara (Sunny), Sakeena (Ameesha Patel) and Jeet (their son). The sequel will move ahead with the same India-Pakistan angle. The production team believes that ‘Gadar’ would be incomplete without it.
The production team has also confirmed that cast will remain unchanged, just like how it was in films like ‘Baahubali’, ‘Rambo, ‘Fast and Furious’ series. The team has already discussed about the film with Sunny Doel. The team said that it can’t disclose anything more about the project as of now.
Gadar had also had actors like Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey playing significant roles.
Another thing worth noting is that the same production company is working on the sequel of Sunny and Anil’s another hit film “Apne” (2009) which had starred all the three Deols – Sunny, Bobby and Dharmendra.
